Global Warming Research Center
Mission and Vision and object of the Global Warming Research Center (GWRC):
The mission of the Global Warming Research Center is to advance the scientific understanding of climate change through comprehensive research, development and innovative solutions and to provide practical insights through seminars, workshops and conferences to combat global warming. In collaboration and cooperation between sciences, analyzes data, maps and aerial images of the Kurdistan Region, Iraq and the world, to spread more awareness, education and sustainable practice, to influence policy, strengthen our society and reduce environmental and climate damage. Ultimately, our goal is to preserve the planet for now and future generations.
Vision of the Global Warming Research Center (GWRC):
Our vision is to become a leading regional and global institution in combating global warming and environmental and climate change, through advanced regional and global joint research, at the university, in Iraqi Kurdistan and the whole region. Despite increasing environmental problems, we envision a future where climate change, is effectively addressed, where ecosystems thrive and communities are transitioned to a sustainable, carbon-free world. Through education, innovation and collaboration, the Global Warming Research Center strives to be a beacon of hope in the global movement to protect Earth’s climate and ensure a healthier, more resilient planet for all.
Objectives of the Global Warming Research Center (GWRC):
1. Conducting advanced research: Promoting scientific knowledge on the causes, effects and solutions of global warming, by receiving and paying attention to climate data and greenhouse gases, from weather stations or through satellites.
2. Develop greenhouse gas reduction and climate adaptation strategies: putting in place and finding practical solutions to reduce carbon emissions, increase clean energy and greening and enhance climate adaptation measures.
3. Awareness and education: Providing comprehensive information to the government (policy makers), educators and the general public about the urgent solutions to prevent further global warming, how to take practical steps.
4. Promote local and global cooperation: Developing partnerships between science, researchers and universities at the local and international levels, research institutions, businesses and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for material and spiritual cooperation and information sharing.
5. Influence policy and decision-making: Pointing out and advocating the obtained evidence-based results that address environmental problems and climate change, in order to influence policy and decision-making, in favor of solving environmental problems.
6. Support innovation and technology development: Promoting and supporting the development of new and clean technologies that reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability in energy, transport, agriculture and urban planning.
7. Climate Trend Monitoring and Assessment: Providing real-time data, climate measurement and monitoring tools and long-term assessments to track global warming trends.
8. Strengthening communities: Communities, especially those most affected by climate change and facing many environmental problems, including Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, must be prepared to adapt and grow in a warming world.
Through these goals, our center wants to play a crucial role in combating global warming and providing a better future for our generations.
